This course complies with international maritime security standards. It is a 3-day or 4-evening course and fulfills the training requirements imposed by the amended STCW Code for Company Security Officers and Vessel Security Officers.

What You’ll Learn

This ISPS Security Officer course is both MCA approved and USCG approved. It has been specifically tailored for yacht crew and yacht management companies to implement their security plans. The course includes an introduction to the background of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), the roles of the company security officer (CSO) and ship/vessel security officer (SSO/VSO), security requirements, and security administration. The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code is an amendment to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention (1974/1988) on minimum security arrangements for ships, ports, and government agencies.  ECHOSG-575 covers the following topics:

  • Ship security assessments and audits
  • Emergency procedures and defensive strategies
  • Crowd management techniques
  • Creating and implementing ship security plans

ECHOSG-575 provides the knowledge and skills required for Company or Vessel Security Officers to perform their duties in accordance with the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, the amended STCW Code33 CFR 104.210, and 33 C.F.R. 105.210.
