What You’ll Learn
This RSO training course teaches prospective NRA-certified Range Safety Officers the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
- Roles and responsibilities of RSOs
- The universal firearm safety rules (and effective techniques for enforcing them)
- General range rules, site-specific range rules, adn administrative rules
- Range standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Range Inspections, range rules, and range briefings
- Firearm stoppages and malfunctions
- Emergency procedures
What to Expect
This course is approximately nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will receive a copy of the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Student Guide. Throughout the course, candidates will be evaluated to insure that they possess the knowledge, skills, and (most importantly) attitude required to safely supervise live-fire activities. The course culminates with a written exam. A score of 90% or higher is required for certification.
